Basic sketch of Wedge Tomb using Iceland as an example

The heavily overgrown Wedge Tomb of Tawnymucklagh ( Irish Tamhnaigh na Muclach ) is marked on the OS map as a "barrow". It is located on a pasture 600 m southeast of Monasterren (Mainistir Réadáin), west of Lough Gara (Loch Uí Ghadhra) in County Sligo in Ireland . Wedge Tombs ( German  "Keilgräber" ), formerly also called "wedge-shaped gallery grave", are aisle-free, mostly undivided megalithic buildings from the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age .

The west-east oriented megalithic complex is located in a low hill and measures about 10.0 m in length and 8.0 m in width and is made of small orthostats . The 6.7 m long gallery is divided into an antechamber and a main chamber by a broken dividing stone. They are surrounded by the remains of the outer wall.

The 1.5 m long antechamber is marked by two bearing stones preserved in situ on the south side and one fallen stone on the north side. The trapezoid main chamber is about 5.0 m long and tapers in width from 1.2 to 0.9 m at the rear. Six of the presumably eight bearing stones in the north and five in the south have been preserved. All capstones are missing or displaced and not recognizable as such. The outer facades are represented in the north and south by seven remaining stones. There are fallen and standing stones in the area of the facade.

The Boulder Burial of Clogher and Clogher Fort are west of Monasterren.
