The Taxi group was founded in Zurich in 1977 specifically for a recording session. The head of the band was Dominique Grandjean, who wrote lyrics and music, sang and played several instruments.
Career
In the same year the band released the LP Es isch als gäb's mich nüm meh (“It's as if I don't exist anymore”). But there were only 600 copies that were distributed by the band members themselves. The band had little success and remained largely unknown.
The song Campari Soda is now considered a classic among Swiss dialect songs. However, the title only became well known through the cover version by Stephan Eicher . A re-release of the original by Taxi reached number 3 in the Swiss single charts at the turn of the year 2006/2007 .
