Taxpayer Identification Number
The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is a by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS comparable, with the German tax office ) used identification number that to the IRS taxable persons is assigned. The TIN can not only be issued by the IRS, but also by the Social Security Administration .
The TIN can come from different number ranges:
- Social Security Number "SSN"
- Employer Identification Number "EIN"
- Individual Taxpayer Identification Number "ITIN"
- Taxpayer Identification Number for Pending US Adoptions "ATIN"
- Preparer Taxpayer Identification Number "PTIN"
The German tax identification number is also a TIN.
