Team Fortress is a modification of the first-person shooter Quake from 1996, the game principle of which was taken up and further developed by several computer game series.

Team Fortress is a class-based team game for the multiplayer mode. Each player has to choose one of several player classes, each of which differs in armament, running speed and resistance as well as special skills. The basic idea is that the various advantages and disadvantages of each player class can be used to the advantage of your own team through coordinated cooperation.

The nine player classes developed by Team Fortress are:

  • Scout (fast, lightly armed scout),
  • Sniper,
  • Soldier (well-armed fighter),
  • Demolition Man (bomber),
  • Medic (paramedic),
  • Heavy Weapons Guy (Heavy Infantryman),
  • Pyro (fireworkers),

Enemy Territory Fortress

Enemy Territory Fortress is a port of Quake 3 Fortress to the free Enemy Territory Engine by the members remaining in the Q3F team after the spin-off of Splash Damage , reinforced by some new members. Models, sounds and all maps come straight from Q3F, while significant changes have been made to the code. While the physics is now closer to the original QuakeWorld Team Fortress, the game balance has been modified to ensure that the different classes are used more evenly. The basic idea behind the port was to unite all Team Fortress communities in one game that is freely available to everyone. The further development was discontinued on February 19, 2006 with version 1.6, since the program is considered finished and mature.

Fortress Forever

Fortress Forever is a modification for the Source Engine that is based on Team Fortress 1.5. The game concept was largely adopted. Owners of the Source Engine (e.g. contained in HL Source, HL 2, Counter Strike Source) can play Team Fortress independently of the Half-Life game. The first playable version of Fortress Forever was released on September 13, 2007.
