The Schluckspecht team was the first German team to take part in the Shell Eco-Marathon in 1998 . The group of students from Offenburg University won the fuel cell category in 2008.

After the previous three versions that took part in the prototype class, the 2009 competition started in the UrbanConcept category. With the Schluckspecht City , a fuel-saving roadworthy vehicle is to be developed.

  • 2005 - 1st place in the diesel category
  • 2006 - 3rd place in the fuel cell category
  • 2006 - 1st place Bosch innovation award for wheel hub motors
  • 2008 - 1st place in the fuel cell category
  • 2011 - 2nd place in the fuel cell category and 3rd place in the plug-in category in the Urban Concept vehicles
