Teatro Politeama (Lisbon)
The Teatro Politeama is a theater in the municipality of Santa Maria Maior ( Lisbon ) on Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, directed by Filipe La Féria . It was built according to a design by Miguel Ventura Terra . The foundation stone of the theater was laid on May 12, 1912, the opening was celebrated on December 6, 1913 with the operetta Valsa de Amor (German love waltz) .
Since its renovation in 1991 and reopening in 1992 by the well-known theater director Filipe La Féria, the Politeama has become known primarily as a venue for popular musicals . La Férias musical Amália, for example, which is dedicated to the singer Amália Rodrigues , who died in 1999 , has been running for six years since its premiere in 2000.
