Rank badge: US Army Technician 4th Grade

Technician Fourth Grade (abbreviated T / 4 , T4C or TEC4 ) was one of three ranks of the United States Army , which were introduced on January 8, 1942 with the 1st amendment to Army Regulation 600-35. The other ranks were Technician Third Grade and Technician Fifth Grade .

use

A technician fourth grade was equivalent to the salary of a sergeant . The rank badge was that of a sergant extended by a subordinate T. Unlike normal sergeants, a Technician Fourth Grade had no command or command. Only within his function could his superiors assign him limited authority over a small unit.

The Technician Fourth Grade was introduced in order to encourage Americans with special technical knowledge to join the US Army and thus avoid lengthy training.

In 1948 the technical ranks were abolished again. Since July 1, 1955, there has been a similar concept, that of the Specialist (SPC) .
