The adjective semi-stationary is a term from the health system and refers to the duration and regularity of the supply of care. Partly inpatient care facilities such as day clinics can meet a need for care that would be too high for purely outpatient care, but does not yet require admission to an inpatient facility.

There are many different day care facilities, often organized as day clinics and attached to a hospital . Even nursing homes offer some inpatient care.
