Telex (input method)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Telex is an input method for the Vietnamese language . It uses digraphs and letters to enter the various combinations of Vietnamese letters, which makes the text to be entered much more legible than e.g. B. makes at VIQR .

The following digraphs are used for special characters of the Vietnamese alphabet, which are entered instead of the respective character:

input Letter
aw ă
aa â
dd đ
ee ê
oo O
ow O
etc. ư

To enter the tone characters, certain letters are entered either directly after the vowel or at the end of the word, which then appear as tone characters above the correct letter.

volume input example
first tone (constant) nothing (or z) entrance → entrance
second tone (falling) f huyeenf → huyền
third tone (rising) s sawcs → sắc
fourth tone (interrupted rising) r hoir → hỏi
fifth tone (rising high) x ngax → ngã
sixth tone (low falling) j nawngj → nặng

If more than one tone is entered, the last tone is used.

Telex is widespread, mainly because it is quick to enter (since, unlike, for example, VIQR, no special characters are required and the tone can always be corrected).
