Dish

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term plate dish describes a meal that, in contrast to a multi-course menu, consists of only one course and is already fully arranged on a plate (there may also be a small salad plate occasionally) and served at the table. A “serving” or so-called “serving”, i.e. serving platters with meat, fish or side dishes already placed on the table on the guest's plate, is not necessary with this form of presentation of the meal.
