Turn of the plate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A horizontal turning of an object , preferably a vehicle, around the vertical axis is referred to as a turntable , as is a course that comes close to this. This method is to be viewed as separate from the usual turning of motor vehicles in production, in which the workpiece undergoes an arc-like movement.

The term also describes a type of turning when swimming back , in which the supine position is not left. On arrival at the pool wall, the front hand hits the pool wall below the surface with the fingertips pointing downwards. Then the legs are bent towards the upper body and the body is turned around the transverse axis with the feet first towards the wall. As a result, the striking hand leaves the pool wall and the swimmer extends both hands in the new swimming direction. Finally, the swimmer pushes his legs off the wall of the pool and continues swimming in the opposite direction.
