Teluk Dalam

Teluk Dalam is a port city in the south of the Indonesian island of Nias off the west coast of Sumatra and the capital of the administrative district of South Nias .

Teluk Dalam had about 76,750 inhabitants in 2004.

The area around Teluk Dalam is known for its surfing areas , such as B. the beaches Sorake Beach or Lagundri Beach.

There are also many historic villages in the vicinity that bear witness to past megalithic cultures , such as B. Bawomataluo, Botohilitano or Hilisimaetano.

Several hundred people died on the island of Nias as a result of the tsunami of December 26, 2004 and the earthquake of March 28, 2005. Almost all localities were affected by destruction.
