Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity ( TMSI ; German temporary mobile subscriber identification number ) is the local and temporary telephone number of a subscriber within a location area that instead of the IMSI is used for the connection. This measure was introduced to make the creation of movement profiles more difficult and thus protects the anonymity of the participants. The TMSI is encrypted and a change during the connection is also possible ( ID hopping ).
