Tenacity
In microbiology , tenacity (lat. Tenacitas to hold on) or toughness or adhesion describes the ability of a microorganism to survive even under non-optimal conditions. This can be due to various properties of the microorganism, such as low temperature sensitivity, high pH tolerance, high tolerance to disinfection methods . In particular, it characterizes how long a microorganism can survive in the environment, i.e. outside of its usual habitat . Such a habitat would be the human body with a human pathogenic germ.
