Terra Samba is a Brazilian sambareggae music group founded in 1991 in the style of Pagoda baiano from Salvador da Bahia . Founding members are Mário Ornellas and Edson Souza, two former percussionists of the popular pagoda troupe Gera Samba .

The band originally consisted of 12 members. Her breakthrough came with her second album Deus É Brasileiro in 1996 , and her first five albums were sold more than three million times.

Negão Jamaica, his brother Beto Jamaica (Tchan) and Mário Ornellas have been leading the band since 2016.

successes

In 1998 they landed a mega hit with the song Liberar Geral and is one of the classics of the genre. Their Brazilian (compared to Carnival in Salvador ) and Caribbean rhythms are typical of the band's music.

Some other well-known songs are Deus é Brasileiro (“God is Brazilian”), Na Manteiga , Banho de Chuveiro or Carrinho de Mão . Terra Samba is one of the popular bands from Brazil at the time of the first wave of the Axé in the 1990s. In addition, the band had three tours in Europe and two in America, where they became known outside of their homeland.
