The super slow motion is a Terra-X documentary series with slow motion recordings . The unmoderated ZDF series with recordings from high- speed cameras , high-speed X-ray videos and time-lapse recordings was first broadcast in 2012. It is directed by Luise Wagner, who is also the author of the show.

Content and production

The super slow motion makes moments, phenomena and movements visible that remain hidden from people in everyday life because they are too fast for the human eye. The HD high-speed cameras used for documentation can capture up to 300,000 images per second.

In the first season you see u. a. Recordings of the boxer Susi Kentikian and the juggler Daniel Hochsteiner, Shaolin master, breakdancer, the shock wave of an explosion, a car crash, a gun shot, a cat's jump, the flight of a honey bee and birds and a water-filled balloon bursting.

In the second season u. a. Free runners , artists from the Roncalli circus, ballet dancers from the National Youth Ballet, the metamorphosis of a butterfly and javelin throws.

The working title of the documentary was The Invisible Universe . The first broadcast took place on March 3, 2012 on ZDFneo, on March 11 and 18, 2012 it was repeated on ZDF. While the first two episodes were broadcast as a two-part series with the title Faster than the Eye - In the Realm of Super Slow Motion when it was first broadcast , since 2013 it has been presented with additional new episodes as a series with the title Super Slow Motion .

Doc.station GmbH Medienproduktion was involved in the production, the producer was Hartmut Klenke, the production manager was Ulrike Römhild, the editorial team included Alexander Hesse and Sonja Trimbuch and the camera team included Pierre Tirier, Jonas Sichert and Rudolf Diesel (second season).

The first season of super slow motion was released on DVD on October 19, 2012 with the title Terra X: Faster than the Eye - In the Realm of Super Slow Motion .
