Wilder Planet is a Terra-X documentary series about natural phenomena and natural disasters .
Content and production
The Wilder Planet documentary series is an international co-production, including broadcasters from Great Britain, the United States and France. The series deals with natural phenomena, natural disasters and weather extremes, such as earthquakes , storms and volcanic eruptions , and the influence of these events on people's everyday lives.
In addition to elaborate recordings, computer animations are also used and experts are interviewed on the subject. Both historical and current events and future scenarios are analyzed. Furthermore, their causes, triggers and consequences are examined and current scientific findings are presented.
The first episode dealt with the earthquake in San Francisco in 1906 and was broadcast for the first time in German on ZDF on April 2, 2006 . Was it initially for National Geographic Television productions in which u. a. ZDF was involved and which were broadcast in Germany under the title Wilder Planet , ZDF later took over the production of its own Wilder Planet episodes.
In 2013 three new episodes were produced. Participated France Television .
On June 21, 2013, the three new episodes were released on DVD.
