Sample area

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the geosciences, small parts of the earth's surface are called test areas ,

  1. on which scientific experiments are carried out or
  2. which serve as representative test areas for data acquisition over larger areas.

Test areas are usually selected according to the respective requirements of the research project, while test areas for measuring points are usually laid out in grid- shaped profiles so that the measured values can be interpreted over a large area and also evaluated for each profile.
