Test scenario

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A test scenario is a (logical and chronological) combination of several test cases with the purpose of checking complex facts. Ideally, a test scenario has the following characteristics: (a) It is a story that (b) motivates, (c) appears believable, (d) is complex, and (e) is easy to verify.

The term test scenario is used in the field of software testing.

The use case-based test examines which system functions are in focus for the user and which actions he typically performs.

Use cases are identified with typical frequency for this purpose .

Test scenarios can be derived from these action patterns. Based on the frequency with which the corresponding actions are triggered when the software is later operated, the tester determines how important the test scenario is and the priority with which it is included in the test plan.
