Thames Water Authority

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Thames Water Authority was one of the regional water authorities created in Great Britain in 1975 to consolidate all water management tasks of a region into one authority.

In this authority the Metropolitan Water Board , the Thames Conservancy , the Lee Conservancy Catchment Board and the parts of the Essex River Authority and the Kent River Authority , which had administered the north and south sides of the Thames estuary , were combined.

In 1989 the Thames Water Authority was partially privatized. The water supply and disposal was transferred to the newly founded Thames Water , while all supervisory tasks were transferred to the National Rivers Authority .
