Thao Chai
Thao Chai ( Thai : ท้าว ซา ย คำ ) was king of Lan Na in what is now northern Thailand between 1538 and 1543 .
Thao Chai succeeded Phaya Ket Chettharat (ruled 1525-1538 and 1543-1545) to the throne after the majority of the nobles were dissatisfied with the previous king, his brother. But Thao Chai could not prevail either and fell out of favor because of a lack of royal virtues ( Dharma ). He was eventually murdered, and Ket Chettharat was brought back to the throne from Mueang Noi, where he was governor.
