The Frozen Autumn is an Italian dark wave band that was founded by Diego Merletto in 1993 and continues the sound of the 1980s with the help of modern technology.
history
In the beginning, Diego founded The Frozen Autumn in Turin as a solo project, but a little later Claudio Brosio joined as a guitarist. In 1994 the first demo tape "Oblivion" was released.
The first album "Pale Awakening" was released in 1995 on the German label Weißer Herbst . After a few concerts and positive reviews from the trade press, The Frozen Autumn was enthusiastically accepted by the European wave and gothic scene. A dark singing voice, singing from Weltschmerz and calmly harmonious keyboard melodies testified to the typical 1980s wave sound. Especially in the title "This Time (80s Song)" it becomes clear how much the duo tries to preserve the musical diversity of the 1980s.
Two years later, “Fragments of Memories” was released on the Italian label Eibon Records . This album was able to increase awareness within the scene.
In 1998, Diego and Arianna founded the project Static Movement , which stylistically does not differ much from The Frozen Autumn, with the exception that only electronic instruments were used to generate sound. The album "Visionary Landscapes" by Static Movement was also released on the Eibon Records label.
In June 2000 a new edition of the album "Pale Awakening" was released under the name "The Pale Collection". The Frozen Autumn was again a solo project by Diego.
The third album was released at the end of April 2002. Arianna from Static Movement was now the second person in the group. "Emotional Screening Device" once again increased The Frozen Autumn's popularity within the black scene. Musically it still offers the sound of the 1980s, but Arianna was more involved in the project with her vocals. The title "Wintertag" was a bit noticeable because it was sung entirely in German. In September 2002 the single "There's No Tomorrow" by Clan of Xymox was also released, on which a remix of the title of The Frozen Autumn can be heard.
In 2003 The Frozen Autumn left Eibon Records and joined the Clan of Xymox label Pandaimonium in 2005 . In the same year they released the album "Is Anybody There?".
