The two-story building is located on a narrow alley between High Street and Shakespeare Street in central Dumfries. The building dates from the middle of the 18th century. Numerous woodwork from this period has been preserved in the interior, while the building is no longer completely in its original state due to extensions and redesigns. The year 1696 on a stone on the east side comes from an earlier building and was subsequently inserted into the brickwork. The building is six axes wide along the south-facing front. The entrance door with a wooden roof is offset from the center, which breaks the symmetry. Small lattice windows were installed. The final gable roof is covered with slate.
