The Glove

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Glove was a new wave / synth pop band led by Siouxsie-and-the-Banshees bassist Steve Severin and The Cure front man Robert Smith . They released a single album, Blue Sunshine (1983), from which the singles Punish Me With Kisses and Like an Animal were decoupled.

Since Smith was contractually prevented from appearing in another band as a singer, Jeanette Landray took over the vocal part. However, Robert Smith took over the mic on two tracks, Mr. Alphabet Says and Perfect Murder . The close cooperation between Severin and Smith came about because The Cure appeared as the opening act for Siouxsie & the Banshees and Smith sometimes helped out as a guitarist. On the Deluxe Edition from 2006 Robert Smith can also be heard on several other demo tracks as a singer.

Some instrumentals from the Blue Sunshine album were often used as openers at Cure concerts during the Head-On-The-Door era.
