The Heartbeats were an American doo-wop band from the early 1950s. They had chart successes with songs like A Thousand Miles Away and Everybody's Somebody's Fool .
history
The trio was founded in 1953 as The Hearts . Since there was already a group of the same name, it was decided to rename it The Heartbeats. A short time later, James "Shep" Sheppard joined as lead singer. After separating in 1959, Sheppart formed the trio Shep and the Limelites , Roker stayed in the music business as a promoter, while the other group members pursued other professions.
