Shep and the Limelites were an American doo-wop band from the early 1960s.
history
The trio was founded in 1961 by James "Shep" Sheppard, who was the lead singer of the group The Heartbeats between 1956 and 1958 and who wrote almost all of the songs for this group. The most famous song by the Limelites trio was Daddy's Home , with which they reached number 2 in the US charts. The song was covered by Jermaine Jackson in 1972 and Cliff Richard in 1981 . James Sheppard died on January 24th, 1970 in his vehicle, he was the victim of a robbery.
