The Poets

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Poets were a Scottish band in the 1960s. What set the group apart from the numerous other bands of this era was the fact that they did not record cover versions of already known songs, but wrote their own songs right from the start.

In 1964 they signed with Andrew Oldham , manager of the Rolling Stones , and released their first single, "Now We're Thru". Although this landed at number 30 on the UK charts, there was no further commercial success.
