The Real News is a global online video news broadcaster that is supported by members and donations. It was founded in 2007 by documentary filmmaker Paul Jay.

Company philosophy (mission statement)

The Real News Network (TRNN) is a news and documentary broadcaster with an emphasis on politically independent and uncompromising journalism . The staff, who collaborate with other journalists from all over the world, research, report and discuss current news and topics. TRNN is viewer-supported and does not accept advertising, government, or corporate funding. The Real News is headquartered in Washington, DC , USA with offices in Baltimore, USA and Toronto , Canada.

Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief

As editor-in-chief of TRNN, Paul Jay oversees the production of over 4,500 reports and is the main presenter of the TRNN. As the production manager of the program CounterSpin on CBC Newsworld, he produced more than 2000 programs in the 10 years it was broadcast. Jay is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker with more than 20 films to date.
