The Strangemen

The Strangemen were a German rock band from Aurich / Ostfriesland , which was founded in 1982 by Rudolf Freese (vocals / guitar), Niels Wittmann (choir / bass) and Frank Limberg (drums / percussion), initially as the 3rd gentleman .

Band history

The band initially played experimental pop, with influences from rock, funk and punk and in German (demo 3rd gentlemen). In 1986 the three musicians went to Berlin and released their debut album of the same name on Glitterhouse Records under the name "The Strangemen". Musically, the band changed their style towards PowerPop, Rock and NeoPunk and from now on sang the songs in English. The album brought them notoriety and acceptance in the Berlin area, and with the release of their second album “Take me Away” also a growing fan base in the independent scene in Germany. After drummer Frank Limberg left in 1989, Ludger Kleff became the band's drummer.
