Theater on the Salzach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Theater an der Salzach in Salzburg was founded in 1983 by Rainer Wistler.

The building at Makartkai 114 can accommodate up to 400 people and is currently being completely renovated. After completion in June 2011 there will be space for up to 600 people.

After Rainer Wistler left the company in 2001, Helmut Beer took over the position of director. His contract runs until 2014.

The Theater an der Salzach offers around eleven drama productions and two dance pieces per season (August to June). Mondays are free of play. The theater mostly shows modern, less often classical pieces of tragedy and comedy.

Tanja Lenz has been the artistic director of the house since 2009.
