Theophilos (Indo-Greek)

Theophilos was an Indo-Greek king who is only known from his (few) coins. He probably only ruled briefly, with his rule being in the Hindu Kush. The exact chronological determination of his reign is controversial in scholarship and varies between 130 and 90 BC. Chr.

In his coinage is spending in silver on the front of Herakles , which in turn show typical of the coins to I. Euthydemos is. Heracles' club is depicted on the reverse. A cornucopia is depicted on copper coins. A single coin shows a seated Pallas with a goddess of victory. Here it is also referred to as an autocrator . Some are labeled Dikaios / Dhramikasa The Devotee of Dharma . This may indicate a turn to Buddhism .
