Tholichthys
As Tholichthys a postlarvales stage is in the ontogeny of butterfly fish (Chaetodontidae), scats (Scatophagidae) and ostracoberyx referred. The Tholichthys stage is characterized by strong bony, often silvery colored and spiked head armor. The armor can extend to the front of the body and is lost again when the young fish stage is reached.
