Thorvald Asvaldsson
Thorvald (Þorvaldur) Asvaldsson was the son of Ásvald Úlfsson, father of Erik the Red and grandfather of Leif Eriksson . He was born in Norway near Stavanger , but spent the time of Harald I's reign in exile and was exiled by Thing around 970 for a murder in the Holmgang to Iceland . There he moved into a farm on the Hornstranden at the northeastern tip of the Westfjords, but died shortly after arrival.
