Tianma Qucun

The archaeological site Tianma-Qucun ( Chinese  曲 村 - 天马 遗址 , Pinyin Qūcūn-Tiānmǎ yízhǐ , English Tianma-Qucun site ) in Quwo County (曲沃 县) in the Chinese province of Shanxi from the time of the Western Zhou Dynasty is the site of the ancient capital of Jin State .

The site was excavated in the 1980s by the Archaeological Faculty of Peking University (Shang Zhou Group) and the Archaeological Institute of Shanxi Province. In addition to recent finds from different epochs of Chinese history, the finds from the time of the Western Zhou Dynasty , in particular the burial objects of the graves of the ruling class and the homes, are of great interest, which provide information about the culture of the ancient Jin State .

The site (Qucun-Tianma yizhi) has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (4-26) since 1996 .

The excavation report received the 2001 Shimada Prize .
