Tibial Compression Test

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The tibial compression test is an examination method used in veterinary medicine for diagnosing cruciate ligament tears . The thigh is grasped and the ankle is flexed with the knee joint extended . The test can be performed with the animal lying on its side or standing. If the anterior cruciate ligament ruptures, the head of the tibia gives way to the front, resulting in a translational movement. Alternative test methods are the drawer test and the Lachman test .
