In this area of the Agro Romano there were few older villages like Settecamini . The neighborhood began to be settled in the 1930s, when workers' settlements such as Pietralata , Tiburtino and San Basilio were established. However, most of the development did not emerge until after the Second World War. While the part in the direction of the city center is densely populated, there are industrial areas in the east, but also relatively large open spaces, which, like Parco di Aguzzano , are protected. The area is crossed by the Aniene River and the eponymous Via Tiburtina ; tapped it through the B metro line . On the western edge is the Roma Tiburtina train station , which is the second most important train station in Rome after the Stazione Termini .
