Tiger team

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tiger Team , or more rarely Tiger Team , is a term taken over from the American (English tiger team ), which in summary describes a group that is of particular use by means of particular aggressiveness or "friendly" attacks, especially for the "attacked" should be.

In the original military parlance, tiger teams meant groups that had the task of checking the security of military or other facilities by attempting or simulating break-ins or theft, for example. The best known of these is the Red Cell US Navy SEAL Tiger Team of the United States Navy SEALs , which predominantly only performs this task.

This has been transferred to the computer sector , so that, for example, a group of hackers undertakes attacks via the data network in order to test the security of computer facilities. The term penetration test has established itself in this context .

Due to the conciseness of the term Tiger Team , given in particular by alliteration , it has also spread in business, especially in quality assurance. A working group is declared a tiger team , which should be characterized by a special “clout”, for example goal fulfillment, diligence, qualification, ambition.
