The TILLIG Modellbahnen GmbH & Co. KG is a German manufacturer of 1991 model railways . The company is based in Sebnitz , Saxony . A model railway museum with a factory outlet is attached to the plant.

history

In 1991, Hans-Jürgen Tillig took over the Sebnitz-based company Pilz Modellgleis , which until then had only produced prototypical flexible tracks for the nominal size H0 . In order to expand the range, a model track for the nominal size TT was developed. At the same time, Hans-Jürgen Tillig founded the Mattra company for the production of model locomotives and cars. For example, models of the DB class 218 and the DR class V 200 were produced. In 1993 Tillig acquired the then dominant company Berliner TT-Bahnen as part of bankruptcy proceedings and relocated its production to Sebnitz, thus laying the foundation for today's range of products. The former companies Pilz and Mattra from Sebnitz and BTTB Zeuke from Berlin were merged under the new company name Berliner TT Bahnen Pilz GmbH & Co. KG . In 1993 the name was changed to Tillig Bahnen und Gleise GmbH & Co. KG and the company headquarters were relocated to Sebnitz .

In the further course, the company relied on the most modern production methods - previous BTTB models mostly corresponded to the technical standards of the 1960s and 1970s. After a few problematic years, the TT gauge developed again into an important nominal size in East and West Germany. At the end of the 1990s, there was a cooperation in sales with the manufacturer Roco , and in 2000 the co-competitor JATT was taken over . The production of the former JATT models was transferred to the partner company Modellbahnmanufaktur Sebnitz in 2004 . In 2001 Tillig took over the distribution rights and the range of the company Sachsenmodelle , an insolvent Zittau manufacturer of H0 rolling stock. This enabled Tillig to establish another mainstay in the market.

In June 2009, Hans-Jürgen Tillig withdrew from the company where he had been one of three managing directors for health reasons.
