Time Stamp Protocol
The Time Stamp Protocol ( TSP ) is a cryptographic protocol used by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to transfer time stamps via X.509 certificates and public-key infrastructure . The time stamp guarantees that the electronic file existed on or before a certain point in time. It runs on port 318. An uninvolved third party then generates the hash value of the document together with the current time with a qualified electronic signature .
OpenTSA was an open source project to add timestamps to OpenSSL .
