A Timesaver is a strategy game based on a simple model railway system .

history

The first Timesaver was developed and built by John Whitby Allen in 1966 . Allen first presented the simple model railway system to the public in 1972 in the American magazine Model Railroader . The original layout was the NMRA (National Model Railroad Association) Howell Day Museum in Chattanooga donated a twin copy went to in San Diego Situated Model Railroad Museum . This "Shunting puzzle" (German "Shunting puzzle" ) have been implemented already DOS times on the PC and in 2011 are playable online yet.

A locomotive and a different number of wagons are placed on the shunting tracks and must now be brought to a predetermined target position via the sidings and switches . If the game is played against each other, the winner can be determined after the smallest number of maneuvers or after the time required.
