The TimoCom GmbH , headquartered in Erkrath is a German IT and FreightTech -Unternehmen. TIMOCOM is the operator of the first Smart Logistics System for Europe. It was founded in 1997 and sees itself as a service provider for all companies involved in transport.

TIMOCOM has representative offices in Poland , the Czech Republic and Hungary as well as two offices in Spain and France . In the 2018 financial year, the company achieved sales of EUR 74.6 million. TIMOCOM employs a total of more than 500 people from over 30 nations.

With its freight and vehicle exchange , originally TC Truck & Cargo, TIMOCOM is one of the market leaders in Europe. In this, supply and demand for transport services are conveyed via a dedicated online marketplace. TIMOCOM has been offering its interconnected applications, services and interfaces within the Smart Logistics System since 2018. Every year since 2008, TIMOCOM has been named the “Best Brand” in the “Freight Exchanges” category in the ETM Verlag readers' poll. The company's products and services are offered in 44 European countries and in 24 languages.

history

In 1997 the entrepreneurs Jens Thiermann and Jürgen Moorbrink founded TimoCom Soft- und Hardware GmbH. The first part of the company name "Timo" is derived from the first letters of the two founders. The company's first product was the TC Truck & Cargo freight and vehicle exchange, which enabled users to digitally convey freight or transport vehicles and avoid costly empty journeys.

In the years to come, TIMOCOM expanded its offering into a comprehensive transport platform. Among other things, applications for cost calculation, route planning, vehicle tracking, allocation of storage space and long-term transport tenders were added.

In 2006 TIMOCOM went online and from then on enabled users to post offers in real time. This step significantly changed the processes of logistics companies in Europe.

As hundreds of thousands of offers were posted on the TIMOCOM transport platform every day, it was decided in 2009 to make the relationship between supply and demand available online in a new service. The transport barometer serves today many companies as a check for their pricing.

In 2014 the company headquarters moved to Erkrath. The extension of a second building complex was completed in 2017.

In 2019, Jens Thiermann handed over the operational management to his son Tim Thiermann, Managing Partner. Since then, he has been running the company together with Sebastian Lehnen, Member of the Executive Board.

public perception

Social commitment In 2012, Jens Thiermann founded the Transport Ambassador Association, which u. a. works in cooperation with the German Forwarding and Logistics Association (DSLV) in the field of promoting young talent.

For years, TIMOCOM has been involved in the Business Day of Action, an initiative of the Erkrath business district, in which local social projects are implemented with the support of local companies.

At the beginning of 2019, the IT company announced that it would finance the construction of a daycare center in Erkrath. For the investment sum of approx. Three million euros, a new building is being built on the site of a former kindergarten, which will provide care places for 75 Erkrath children aged up to six years. The building bears the name “Timos Fuchsbau day care center”.

TIMOCOM has been committed to sustainable management since 2011. In addition to the use of green electricity and energy-efficient technology in its buildings, the IT company awards u. a. an environmental seal to customers who avoid empty runs and thus unnecessary environmental pollution. In addition, a study by Green Router in 2016 showed that using the TIMOCOM freight exchange reduces empty trips and thus also CO 2 emissions.
