Tiocfaidh ár lá
Tiocfaidh ár lá (pronounced: [ ˈtʲʊki aːɾˠ ˈɫ̪aː ] chukki ar la ) is an Irish phrase that translates as "Our day will come". This points to a day when Ireland will be reunited and free from British interference in Irish affairs. It became the unofficial slogan of the Irish Republican Movement, and especially the Provisional Irish Republican Army . Following the English pronunciation of tiocfaidh , the supporters of IRA or Sinn Fein in Great Britain are referred to as Chucky or Chuck . The saying was first spread by Bobby Sands , who made him famous and synonymous with the movement through his hunger strike.
