Titos (stonemason)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Titos ( Greek  Τίτος ) was an ancient stonemason probably from the 3rd century from Cilicia .

Titos was the son of the stonemason Diomedes . He is known from a signature on a grave altar found in Dimöte Köy , which was signed by his father and himself as a stonemason ( Greek  Τεχνίτης ). Erected for a late woman named Iate , it features a funeral meal on the front and family scenes on the sides. While the stone was prepared very expertly, the pictorial representations are rather clumsy, which suggests that father and son were more artisans than artists. The altar is now in the Alanya Museum .
