Tlapanec (Me'phaa) is an indigenous language in Mexico or a group of closely related languages spoken by the Tlapanec ethnic group . It belongs to the family of Otomangue languages.
Is Tlapanec language census of 2010 by about 127,000 people in the state of Guerrero (especially in the Municipalities Acatepec , Atlixtac , Malinaltepec , Tlacoapa , San Luis Acatlán and Zapotitlán Tablas , besides also in Atlamajalcingo del Monte , Metlatónoc , Tlapa , Quechultenango , Ayutla , Azoyú and Acapulco ) spoken. Due to the geographical fragmentation of the language area, there are widely differing regional variants. SIL International divides Tlapanek into four individual languages (Acatepec, Azoyú, Malinaltepec and Tlacoapa).
Like other Otomangue languages, Tlapanek is a tonal language .
