Tomás González Rivera (born March 3, 1963 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish football player .

Career

Tomás signed his first professional contract in 1983 and played from then on in the reserve team of Atlético Madrid in the Segunda División . In 1985 he moved to league rivals Real Oviedo . Here Tomás developed into an important part of the team. In 1988 he was promoted to the Primera División . In the 1988/89 season Tomás proved that he was able to perform well at the first division level. He made 36 league games and scored seven goals. Then some larger clubs became aware of the Spaniard.

For the season 1989/90 Tomás was from Valencia contracted. At the end of the season he was immediately runner-up with the club. He also took part in the UEFA Cup four times with Valencia . After 142 league appearances, the Spaniard left the club for Cantabria and played for Racing Santander for two more years .

After the 1995/96 season , Tomás ended his career. The Spaniard played a total of 243 games in the Primera División and scored 18 goals.
