Tone scale

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The tone scale shows the distribution of tones in an image, with the lightest point being shown in white and the darkest point being shown in black. This is then represented by means of a graphic in a coordinate system. Modern digital cameras show the tone scale as well as various image processing programs . On the basis of the tone value scale, tone value corrections can then be made by changing the light / dark distribution of the pixels accordingly.
