Top Magazin is a nationwide regional magazine with a focus on lifestyle and way of life.

history

The magazine was founded by Lothar Neuse and published by Top of the Tops & Top Magazin Verlagsgesellschaft mbH in Düsseldorf. The first issue appeared in autumn 1982 as Top Magazin Düsseldorf . Then 17 other top locations followed: Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Wuppertal, Munich, Aachen, Essen, Berlin, Saarland, Neuss, Dortmund, Koblenz, Bielefeld, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Bremen and Bonn.

In 1990 Lothar Neuse sold Top of the Tops to Jürgen Modrow. The magazine was expanded into a franchise system by the new owner and other top magazines were published in new locations, e. E.g .: Rhein-Neckar, Dresden etc.

Another change of ownership took place in 1996. Jürgen Modrow sold the Top of the Tops franchise system to Thomas Schneider - who designed the magazine into a nationwide license system. For this purpose, the company Top of the Tops & Top Magazin International GmbH & Co. Verlags- und License KG was founded. Top Magazin is still an association of economically and legally independent license contract partners. In 2006 Ralf Kern became managing director with a 49% stake in the company and from then on took over the operational area.

Currently (2019) a total of 33 top magazine regional editions appear nationwide. Depending on the size of the locations / regions, the individual editions are between 6,000 and 25,000 copies. The magazine is published 4 times a year with a total circulation of around 400,000 copies.
