Torgau March

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Torgauer Marsch ( Army March III, 69; Army March II, 210) is a German military march .

The march is said to have been composed by a teacher named Scholz based in Torgau . The naming has nothing to do with the battle of Torgau . Friedrich Wilhelm III. is said to have received it from teacher Scholz during his visit to Torgau on June 24, 1817. The Torgauer was a cavalry march, but was also played, in a slower form, by the infantry.

The Torgau March is the battalion march of the reconnaissance training battalion 3 " Lüneburg ".
