Torreciudad is a Marian pilgrimage site in Aragon . It is located in the parish of Secastilla . Located on the east bank above the Embalse de El Grado reservoir , it offers an excellent view of the Pyrenees .

history

Torreciudad, said to date back to an 11th century hermitage, was built by the founder of Opus Dei , Josemaría Escrivá , and inaugurated in 1975 as Nuestra Señora de Torreciudad (Our Lady of Torreciudad). The pilgrimage site was designed by the architect Heliodoro Dols, who also supervised the construction.

Furnishing

In the wide nave there is a modern alabaster altar by the Spanish sculptor Joan Mayné with scenes from the life of Mary. In the crypt there is a chapel of the Holy Family. The site houses the old statue of the Madonna of Torreciudad from the old hermitage.
