Tortilla chip
A tortilla chip , also known as a corn chip , is a small, usually triangular-shaped corn flour - savory biscuits . Tortilla chips are similar to potato chips but are made from a tortilla . This is cut into triangles, which are then fried . In Mexico , their country of origin , they are known as Totopos .
The industrially manufactured tortilla chips from the USA are now also available in Mexico. If cheese is poured over or baked on tortilla chips , they are called nachos .
